Man ‘with blade’ arrested after alleged rape attempt in country lane

A man ‘with a blade’ has been arrested following an alleged rape attempt in Salisbury.

Police officers attended Mill Lane, in Stratford-sub-Castle, at around 11am this morning (Thursday).

The response followed a call from a teenage girl, reporting that she had been assaulted.

The National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter was called in to assist with searching for the suspect involved in the incident.

Officers have since arrested a man on suspicion of attempted rape and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, which is thought to have taken place shortly after 11am today, is asked to call the force on 101 quoting log 110 of today’s date (1 May).
