Man arrested after house and car damaged in Chippenham incident

A man has been arrested following an incident in Chippenham this evening (Sunday).

Police officers were called to reports of a domestic disturbance and road traffic collision in Farnewell Close, off Goldney Avenue, at around 8.45pm.

A black Audi was reportedly driven about ten metres at high speed before the driver lost control and hit a silver Volkswagen Touran parked on a driveway.

As a result, the vehicle struck a house – causing damage to the brickwork.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and deemed the building structurally safe. Though urgent repairs will be required.

It’s alleged the driver of the Audi was involved in a domestic with his partner before attempting to drive off whilst under the influence of either drink or drugs and causing the collision.

He has been arrested in connection with the incident. The suspect will be taken to hospital for injuries sustained before being taken to custody for questioning.
