Man arrested after firefighters called to car entering River Avon in Salisbury

A man has been arrested after firefighters were called to car entering the River Avon.

The vehicle — thought to be a Vauxhall Corsa — was submerged in the icy water in central Salisbury in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, 14 January).

A specially-trained water rescue fire crew assessed the high and fast-flowing river as too dangerous to enter to recover the car.
