Man arrested after police and bomb squad called to address in Swindon

A man was arrested after police attended an address in Swindon late last night.

Officers called to a property in Church Walk South, Moredon, shortly after 11pm became concerned about the safety of military memorabilia in the property.

As a result, the Royal Logistic Corps’ bomb disposal unit was tasked.

A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of owning a prohibited item and further arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs.

In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “We were called to an address in Church Walk, Swindon shortly after 11pm last night (13/04).

“Officers attending the address became concerned about the safety of military memorabilia in the property.

“As a precaution we asked the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team to attend the property. They have confirmed that decommissioned items found in the home are safe and pose no danger to the public.

“A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of owning a prohibited item and further arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs. He is currently in police custody.”
