A man ‘armed with a gun’ has been arrested following an incident in Swindon.
Firearms officers attended an address in the Avonmead area of Haydon Wick at around 10.45am this morning (Thursday).
After a stand-off between police and the suspect within the property, he was arrested in the early afternoon.
A man, aged in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and making threats to kill.
The suspect – who as reportedly suffering a mental-health episode – was taken to custody for questioning.

Inspector Leighton Williams said: “At around 10.45am this morning, firearms officers were deployed as a precaution after we received a report of a mental health related incident concerning a man with a potential firearm in Haydon Wick.
“The incident was safely resolved and the man, aged in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
“He has been taken into custody for questioning.”
