A man and his dog have been rescue from a lake in Swindon this afternoon.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service sent three fire crews, including their specialist water rescue unit, to the scene in west Swindon at around 3.30pm.

A man and his dog were discovered on an island in the middle of Peatmoor Lagoon.

A fire service spokesperson told Wiltshire 999s that the man, who had spent some time in the cold lake, was left in the care of the ambulance service.

It’s not currently known how the pair came to be on the island.

Police vehicles, fire engines and ambulances were sighted parked along Peatmoor Way this afternoon as the emergency services conducted their water rescue.
