The collision involved a heavy goods vehicle travelling north on the A350 and a Ford Ka travelling south. For reasons yet to be established the Ford Ka appears to have lost control and spun in the carriageway across the path of the heavy goods vehicle.

A collision has occurred in the carriageway which has caused significant damage to the Ford Ka.

The driver of the Ka, a 37-year-old man from the local area, has sustained a life-threatening injury at the scene and has been airlifted to Southmead Hospital for treatment.

The road has been closed all day while investigation work is carried out and the scene is cleared. However we are hopefully it will reopen soon.

Triforce Roads Policing Unit are appealing for any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 and leave full contact details.
