Major road in Swindon closed due to ‘person in distress on bridge’

A major road in Swindon is closed as emergency service deal with a mental health incident.

Police were called to reports of a person in distress on a bridge over Tewkesbury Way earlier this evening (Monday) – with officers remaining on scene at 9.30pm.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service has multiple fire crews on scene, including an aerial ladder platform appliance.

The route is currently closed in both directions between Mannington Roundabout and the junction for West Swindon District Centre/Asda.
