Knifeman arrested after making threats outside Swindon homeless hostel

A knifeman has been arrested after making threats outside a homeless hostel in Swindon.

Police raced to reports of an armed suspect in Spring Close, near the Jobcentre Plus in Princes Street, at around 11am on Wednesday morning (8 December).

On arrival, officers located and arrested the suspect, a man aged in his 40s, on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and affray.

They went on to search a room connected to the male, and found a knife – believed to have been brandished in the incident outside Booth House.

Acting Inspector Tristan Winter said: “There can be no place for knives or bladed articles of any kind on our streets.

“We are working day and night to ensure that the carrying of bladed weapons in our communities is considered unacceptable.”
