Detectives have launched an investigation into the death of a woman at a bus stop in Swindon.

Emergency services were called to the scene outside MBROS Superstore in Cricklade Road at around 7am this morning.

The casualty, a woman in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A crime scene cordon is in place between Transfer Bridges and the Ferndale Road crossroads, closed to both motorists and pedestrians while forensics work at the scene.

A forensic tent was erected next to the bus stop at just before 10am.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “At approximately 7am today (03/04) we were called to the sudden death of a woman in her 30s at a bus stop on Cricklade Road, Swindon.

“The death is being treated as unexplained at this time. Our enquiries are continuing.”
