Injured elderly man left bleeding in road after hit-and-run in Swindon

An elderly man was left bleeding in the road after a hit-and-run this morning.

Police officers were called to the scene by concerned paramedics following the incident, which happened opposite The Merlin public house on Drove Road at around 11.45am today.

The vehicle involved in the crash left the scene, but was swiftly located by police.

Wiltshire Police say the vehicle that hit the pedestrian left the scene of the collision, but was swiftly located by officers. An investigation into the incident is underway.

A local resident commented said there was “quite a bit of blood on the road”.

Drove Road and Cumberland Road were blocked for some time, but reopened at 1.45pm.

The casualty suffered a head and leg injury.
