Huge police presence as man attacked by group with baseball bats in Swindon

There’s a huge police presence in central Swindon this afternoon following an assault.

At least eight police vehicles were called to the scene in Manchester Road at around 2.10pm where a man was attacked by several people in an alleyway near Swindon Hand Car Wash.

Two Armed Response Vehicles (ARVs) and dog unit were sent to the incident to assist local officers. One marked Military Police car and two officers were also at the scene, but it is not clear why.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “At 2.10pm today (11/08) we received a report of an assault on a man on Manchester Road, Swindon.

“The victim is attending hospital but his injuries are not thought to be serious.

“Officers are currently at the scene and carrying out enquiries. If anyone has any information they should call 101, quoting log 182 of today (11/08).”
