Huge emergency response to late night suspected assault in Swindon

Emergency services were called to an incident in North Swindon late last night.

999 crews lined Redhouse Way at around 11.30pm as they responded to a report of an assault which on investigation turned out to be a ‘medical incident’.

A number of local residents told Wiltshire 999s they heard screaming and people shouting moments before four police cars arrived at the scene in convoy, sirens blaring.

At least three vans arrived shortly afterwards, followed by a dog unit and a roads policing unit.

Officers could be seen shining torches in bushes and near fencing in the area. Police vehicles were seen patrolling nearby roads and parks appearing to search for something or someone.

An ambulance and ambulance rapid response vehicle were also at the scene. By 1am, one woman was taken to the ambulance and treated by medics. It’s thought she then was taken to hospital.

Wiltshire Police said officers were attending a “medical episode”, and that “no further police action” is being taken in relation to the incident. No further details were provided.

The scene was clear by 1.30am.
