A local shop in a village on the Wiltshire border has been destroyed in a fire.
Emergency services were called to the major blaze in High Street, Marshfield, west of Chippenham, at around 12.30pm today (Wednesday, 31 August).
Approximately ten fire crews from Avon Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance, including an aerial ladder appliance.
The local shop, Central Stores, and the flats above are understood to have been affected – with the roof falling in on the building.
Firefighters are struggling to battle the flames due to the low water pressure in the area.
No one’s believed to have been hurt during the incident, which is expected to be ongoing until after 7pm.
Police have closed the road in both directions. Motorists are being told to avoid the scene.
In a statement, the fire sercice said: “We were called at 11:56 this morning to reports of a house fire on Sheepfair Lane, Marshfield.
“We currently have 6 fire engines on the scene, with a further 4 on route. All persons have been accounted for and no injuries have been reported.”
