Gridlock in Bradford on Avon town centre as firefighters tackle serious car blaze

A car has been destroyed after catching fire in Bradford on Avon.

The Volvo estate was engulfed in flames on Frome Road at around 8.20am this morning (1 April).

The blaze was quickly extinguished by firefighters using hose reel jets and a main jet.

The road, near The Maltings, was closed for a short time, which caused gridlock in the town centre – which only just copes with the rush hour on a normal day.

The car was completely destroyed by the flames, but it’s believed that nobody was injured.

In a statement, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “A fire crew from Bradford on Avon was called to fire involving one private vehicle located on Frome Road.

“The vehicle was well alight on the arrival of firefighters, who used hose reels and a main jet to extinguish the fire.”
