Girl, 12, who assaulted two police officers cleaned their cars to apologise

A 12-year-old girl who assaulted two police officers after she went missing in Salisbury in September cleaned their cars to apologise, a court heard on Thursday.

The girl, who can’t be named for legal reasons, ran away from a children’s home. When police officers found her, she became aggressive towards them and then tried to harm herself, according to a report by the Salisbury Journal last week.

During the incident, where she was retained by the officers attending, she kicked one officer in the groin and chucked handcuffs in the face of another.

The court heard how it it was ‘excellent’ that she’d been to the local police station to clean police vehicles by way of an apology to the officers involved.

The hearing, at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court, came to an end when the magistrate extended the girl’s ongoing six-month referral order by one month.
