Firefighters help remove ‘critically unwell’ man from Swindon home

Firefighters have helped remove a ‘critically unwell’ man from a home in Swindon.

Emergency services were called to a medical incident in Alderley Road, in Blunsdon St Andrew, at around 2pm yesterday (Thursday, 18 January).

A significant number of ambulance resources were sent to the scene – including two double-crewed ambulances, Wiltshire Air Ambulance, and an operations officer.

However, specialist fire crew and a technical rescue team from Station Fire Station were tasked with assisting paramedics in removing the casualty from the building.

Once removed, the man was taken to Great Western Hospital for urgent treatment. He is understood remain in a life-threatening condition today (Friday).
