The motorway is partially blocked between junctions 17 (Chippenham) and 16 (Swindon).

Lanes two and three are closed on the eastbound carriageway and lane three is closed westbound.

The partial closures are causing significant tailbacks in both directions.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Allow extra time for your journey or seek another route whilst emergency services are dealing with the incident.”
