Firefighters called to extinguish homeless man’s tent in Chippenham

Firefighters have extinguished a tent blaze in Chippenham tonight.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene off Avenue La Fleche at 8.17pm.

One crew from Chippenham Fire Station were sent to the incident alongside Lovers Walk, arriving around seven minutes later.

A single firefighter put out the flames using one hose reel jet.

The tent, which is believed to belong to a homeless man, was completely destroyed in the fire.

It’s not clear how the blaze started, but it’s thought to have been deliberate.
