Firearms cops storm Swindon hotel after shooting suspect tip-off

Firearms officers stormed a hotel in central Swindon this afternoon (Tuesday).

It followed a tip-off from a member of the public who reported sighting a suspect – wanted in connection with last week’s shooting – at the Leonardo Hotel in Fleming Way.

Armed police officers, supported by a dog unit and the police helicopter from Oxford, attended the establishment and carried out a search.

The response comes just hours after Wiltshire Police issued an appeal for information about the whereabouts of 17-year-old Leo Morris and 20-year-old Morgan Frances.

A spokesperson for the force confirmed that nobody was arrested during the incident.

They added: “We continue to appeal to locate Leo Morris and Morgan Frances in connection with a recent serious incident in Sackville Close Swindon on Thursday.

“Members of the public are advised not to approach them but to call us on 999.

“Alternatively you can leave anonymous information by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
