Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) is warning motorists to avoid flood water.

Firefighters have been called out to “various flooding incidents” across the county today (Thursday) – including in Forest Road near Lacock.

The usually busy countryside route between the village and Melksham has been impassable due to significant flooding since early this morning.

The road is closed in both directions, as is an unnamed road past Queen Consort Camilla’s home in Reybridge and the bridges in The Wharf past Lacock Abbey.

The A350 between Lacock and Melksham is also flooded – with motorists experiencing major delays.

In a short statement, DWFRS wrote: “We are experiencing flooding along the River Avon. It’s particularly bad between Chippenham and Trowbridge.

“Please please do not try and drive through this flood water, it’s very fast flowing and deep.”
