Fire service rescue man trapped under pipes that fell from lorry in Chippenham

A man’s been taken to hospital after an incident in Chippenham left him trapped.

At around 8.30am this morning, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Hill Corner Road where a man was found to be trapped under pipes which had fallen off a lorry.

A fire service spokesperson said: “Chippenham and Corsham were mobilised with an officer to release a person trapped. Hydraulic rescue equipment was used to release the casualty.”

The casualty is understood to have been helping unload the lorry at the time of the incident.

South Western Ambulance Service has confirmed that one male casualty was taken to Royal United Hospital in Bath for treatment of leg injuries.

Wiltshire Council and the Heath and Safety Executive have been informed.
