Fire crews rush to Wiltshire secondary school after blaze breaks out

Fire crews were called to a Wiltshire secondary school after a blaze broke out.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) sent at least five engines to the incident at Malmesbury School shortly before 3pm today (Tuesday).

School pupils were evacuated from the building and are, at present, not allowed back into the building to collect their belongings.

Nobody was injured, but emergency services remain on the scene.

Parents are unable to collect their children until headcounts have taken place to ensure no one is unaccounted for.

A DWFRS spokesperson confirmed it was called to a small fire in a downstairs toilet at 2.57pm.

“Two breathing apparatus wearers used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire”, they added.

Fire engines from Malmesbury, Chippenham (x2), Tetbury and Nailsworth were all in attendance.
