Fire crews called to help paramedics as man falls ill on top deck of bus

Fire crews were called in to help rescue an intoxicated casualty from the top deck of a double-decker bus in Swindon town centre this afternoon.

South Western Ambulance Service sent two ambulances and a paramedic officer in a rapid response vehicle to the scene at the bus station off Manchester Road at just before 5pm.

The male patient has been travelling on the 55 Stagecoach bus, which goes between Chippenham and Swindon regularly throughout the day.
