Father-of-five relentlessly harassed ex-girlfriend ‘because he missed her’

A father-of-five relentlessly harassed his ex-girlfriend ‘because he missed her’.

35-year-old Scott Walsh admitted harassing the woman when he appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court.

Prosecutor Pauline Lambert said the offence, which occurred between 15 June and 22 June this year, was committed after the defendant was arrested and bail for other allegations.

He was released from police custody on 14 June and immediately went on to repeatedly contact the woman – despite bail conditions prohibiting the actions.

Walsh sent dozens of messages to the victim on Messenger and WhatsApp “relentlessly day and night”.

The court heard that Walsh moved into the woman’s home within two weeks of her getting the new accommodation and arguments immediately began.

Tim Morgan, defending, said his client “sound like a man who is broken-hearted at the end of a relationship”, adding that none of the messages were insulting or abusive.

He said most of the messages were Walsh, of Hawthorn Avenue, Swindon, telling the woman that he was sorry about the way he behaved and that he missed her and loved her.

The groundworker, who has five children from previous relationships, was fined £366 – and told to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £37.
