Arrests made after family assaulted after attempting to defuse street fight in Swindon

A number of people – from the same family – were assaulted last night, after attempting to defuse an escalating altercation in Swindon.

Police officers were called to Eastern Avenue in Old Walcot at around 11.10pm yesterday, Saturday 7 October, following reports of a fight breaking out.

On their arrival, three people – one woman and two men – fled the scene on foot. One man involved in the incident was heard shouting racist remarks as he ran away.

Police officers and Police Community Support Officers carried out door-to-door enquiries in the near vicinity this morning, Sunday 8 October.

A number of arrests have been made in connection with this incident.

Witnesses are asked to contact Wiltshire Police by calling 101.
