UPDATE: Woman pulled from Devizes canal and successfully revived dies in hospital


A woman pulled from a canal in Devizes this morning has been taken to hospital in a serious condition.

Emergency services were called to the scene near St. Joseph’s Primary School at just before 10.30am, where the casualty was removed from the water and firefighters began resuscitation efforts.

A crime scene investigator, working alongside detectives from CID, was the scene at around midday.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “We were alerted to a woman in the water of the Kennet and Avon Canal, in Devizes, shortly before 10.30am this morning (5/3).

“Emergency services attended and a woman in her 60s has been taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon in a serious condition.

“We currently remain at the scene.”
