Emergency services respond as vehicle strikes railway bridge in Swindon

Emergency services are currently at the scene of a railways bridge strike in Swindon.

The incident, at Whitehouse Bridge, is believed to have happened at around 9.10am this morning (25 February).

Corporation Street is blocked in both directions between Great Western Way and Station Road.

A Network Rail incident response officer is on scene, however, trains continue to run as usual on the mainline.

No one is believed to be injured in the collision, but the road may be closed for some time for recovery work and bridge assessments.

UPDATE 10AM: The road has reopened, with only Network Rail at the scene.

Police were in attendance but it’s believed they were only passing and provided assistance.
