Elderly Tisbury man charged with possessing indecent images of children

An elderly Tisbury man has been charged with possessing indecent images of children.

Bruce Livingston Stewart, 82, appeared before Salsibury Magistrates’ Court on 6 May accused of having a stash of 97 child abuse images.

The charges allege that the defendant, of Nadder Close, possessed 29 of the most abhorrent images in category A – which involve penetrative sexual activity.

He’s also said to have had 37 category B (non-penetrative sexual activity) and 31 category C images (indecent images not falling within categories A or B).

The case was deemed too serious to be dealt with by magistrates and it was sent to Salisbury Crown Court.

Stewart will next appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing on 27 May.

He was released on unconditional bail.
