Elderly cyclist dies after sustaining injury falling off bicycle in rural Wiltshire

A cyclist has died after falling off his bicycle and hitting his head, an inquest heard.

Christopher Moore, 81, sustained a significant head wound in the incident close to his home address in the Whiteparish area, a rural village southeast of Salisbury.

The retired lorry driver was rushed to Salisbury District Hospital for treatment, but he was pronounced dead within two hours of the crash on 28 October.

Wiltshire and Swindon Coroner’s Court heard that Mr Moore’s cause of death was a severe head injury.

The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed in 2023.
