Eight cats and many other pets rescued from house fire in Swindon

Eight cats and many other pets have been rescued from a house fire in Swindon.

Emergency services responded to reports of a developed blaze at an end-terrace property on Kingshill Road shortly before midday today (Friday).

Three fire crews from Swindon and Westlea and an aerial ladder platform appliance were sent to the incident, which involved a kitchen on the ground floor.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatuses extinguished the flames and 15 animals were rescued.

Pets treated by firefighters using Smokey Paws animal first aid kits include our cats, four kittens, four guinea pigs, a rabbit and two chinchillas.

Fire crews had left the scene by 3pm and an investigation into what caused the blaze is underway.
