Drug dealer caught with cannabis after police raid Eldene home – AGAIN

A convicted drug dealer was caught with cannabis after police raided his home once again.

26-year-old Callum Harvey-McKenzie pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis when he appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning (Wednesday).

Pauline Lambert, prosecuting, said Wiltshire Police conducted a drugs warrant at his home in Bowleymead, Eldene, on 5 October last year – an address that has been raided previously.

Officers located a joint and a small box of cannabis in his bedroom, which was evidently for personal use. Scales and other drug paraphernalia were also found.

The court was told that in December 2021, he was handed an 18-month suspended prison sentence for an offence of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs.

Emma Hiller, defending, said her client has nearly finished his suspended sentence order successfully, with only 11 hours of unpaid work and five rehabilitation days to complete.

She said Harvey-McKenzie is a carer for his mother, who suffered a stroke and requires a hip replacement – adding that he is no longer hanging around with the same people and rarely leaves home.

“He’s really turning a corner and has made excellent progress”, she continued.

District Judge Joanna Dickens, on hearing that there’s no suggestion of him continuing to deal drugs, fined him £80 rather than sending the case to Swindon Crown Court for the potential activation of his prison sentence. He must also pay £85 costs and a £36 surcharge.
