Driver critically wounded after car ploughs into telegraph pole and wall

A driver was critically wounded when his car ploughed into a telegraph pole and a wall.

Emergency services were called to the serious crash near Dilton Marsh, west of Westbury, at around 6.35am this morning (Friday 25 November).

A Mini left the road and impacted a telegraph pole and wall in the single-vehicle road traffic collision.

Great Western Air Ambulance was tasked after the driver, a man in his 50s, sustained life-threatening injuries.

The man was rushed to hospital, where he’s said to be in a critical condition.

Wiltshire Police attended the scene alongside Avon and Somerset Police, the force responsible for the incident due to it being 250 metres over the Wiltshire border into Somerset.

A police spokesperson said: “If you were in the area and witnessed the incident, or the moments immediately before or after, and have dashcam footage, please contact 101 and quote reference 5222282949.”
