Driver arrested after Swindon pursuit – as van ditched on roundabout

A driver’s been arrested after a pursuit in Swindon this afternoon (Wednesday).

Police attempted to stop a white Ford Transit van on Marlborough Road at around 1pm – but when the driver failed to stop a high-speed chase ensued.

The van passed through red traffic lights and keep left signs on numerous occasions, before hitting bushes on Snodshill Roundabout and fleeing into Liden on foot.

A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, possession of cannabis and driving whilst under the influence of drugs.

He remains in custody at Gablecross for questioning.
