There were dramatic scenes in Swindon on Saturday night when police raided a home.
Around 15 police units were seen in the vicinity of the ongoing incident – including one riot van, a police dog unit and two armed response vehicles – at around 8pm on 20 January.
The door to a property on County Road was smashed in by officers; they remained inside with detectives from CID while it was guarded by a Police Community Support Office outside.
Two men were arrested at the address, and have since been charged with various offences.
Alexander Powell, 24, of Rosebery Street, has been charged with criminal damage and assault.
28-year-old Joseph McLaughlin of Carfax Street, was charged with racially aggravated public order and using threatening words/behaviour to cause alarm.
They were both remanded in custody, appearing at Swindon Magistrates Court this morning.
Despite a large number of police officers and vehicles gathering on Station Road, outside Swindon Car and Van Rental and Tyre City, it’s not believed they are connected to the incident.
