Dramatic scenes in Swindon as man’s arrested by armed cops after axe attack

A 30-year-old man was attacked with an axe in Swindon on Friday evening.

Police officers were called to Meadowcroft Community Centre in Upper Stratton at around 5pm on 22 June after a call from a member of the public reporting a disorder.

A short time later, armed police officers detained a suspect at gunpoint in Ruskin Avenue – it’s understood the axeman was the man arrested at this location.

Wiltshire Police has confirmed that a 30-year-old man, an 18-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy, all from Swindon, have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH).

“The 13-year-old has been released under investigation, while the other two men have been released on conditional bail to return to custody at a later date”, a spokesperson said.

The casualty isn’t believed to have suffered an serious injuries.
