Dozens of firefighters tackle major fire on Gypsy Lane in Swindon

Dozens of firefighters are tackling a major fire on Gypsy Lane in Swindon.

EMR Local, a large scrap metal yard next to the BMW factory, went up in flames at just before 1am this morning, Saturday 15 April.

Eleven fire units are at the scene, including seven fire engines, two water bowers, one aerial appliance and an incident control unit, according to a source.

The fire began to wind down at around 6am, with the blaze said to be ‘under control’.

Oxfordshire Fire Service have sent relief crews from Wantage and Faringdon to provide cover in Swindon whilst local firefighters deal with the major incident.
