Dog owner and eyewitnesses ‘traumatised’ after pet mauled to death in Trowbridge

A dog has been mauled to death by another dog during a violent attack in Trowbridge.

The incident happened at around 9.15am on Sunday morning (11 September) in the fields between Elizabeth Way and Victoria Road, in the Hilperton area.

It’s alleged a black and white dog, described as a Staffordshire bull terrier-cross (pictured), viciously attacked and killed a small breed – which was on a lead at the time.

It’s also alleged that the owner of the dog did not stop at the scene, and exited onto Victoria Road.

Eyewitnesses claim they were left ‘traumatised’ by events. One said: “Those of us that were close by all feel traumatised but it’s nothing compared to how you feel.”

Another said: “I’m still not over it, I can’t believe it happened.

Adding: “I seen (sic) the lady who it happened too (sic), I’ve been so upset seeing her carrying her poor dog. It’s absolutely devastating.”

Wiltshire Police has confirmed is is investigating the incident – anyone who knows the owner of the dog asked to contact the force on 101, quoting reference 54220095767.
