Emergency services are currently attending a multi-vehicle crash in Chippenham.

At least three vehicles were involved in the road traffic collision on the A4, at the crossroads in Chequers Hill, at around 1pm this afternoon (Friday).

A black BMW has left the carriageway and is stuck in a ditch sideways. A silver Nissan 4×4 and a grey Ford S-Max both sustained significant damage in the impact.

The major route between Chippenham and Corsham was blocked in both directions until around 2pm, when police directed motorists past the scene in a stop-go format. Delays are expected until 4pm.

A dog is said to have gone missing from one of the vehicles involved. It’s described as black and was last seen running from Sainsbury’s towards Lacock on the A350.

It’s not clear if anybody suffered any serious injuries in the dramatic smash.

Wiltshire Police has been approached for comment.
