‘Disqualified drug driver’ arrested in Melksham after pursuit ends in crash

A suspected disqualified drug driver had been arrested after a pursuit ended in a crash.

The police chase happened in Melksham at around 9pm last night (Monday 9 January) – ending in Ruskin Avenue.

It’s understood the male driver fled the scene after crashing the car, which was said to be a black BMW.

A 35-year-old, from Bath, was initially arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and dangerous driving.

Following a search of his vehicle, he was further arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis, driving whilst disqualified and driving over the prescribed limit for drugs.

Wiltshire Police said he “remains in Melksham Custody for questioning”.
