Serious house fire in Westbury extinguished by 22 firefighters

A serious house fire in Westbury was extinguished by 22 firefighters.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) were called to the blaze in The Butts at around 6pm yesterday (Monday, 15 January).

Appliances from Trowbridge, Westbury, Warminster, Bradford on Avon, Melksham, Mere, Salisbury and Devizes attended the scene.

It took nearly two dozen firefighters wearing breathing apparatus to dose the flames – using horse reel jets and main jets.

It’s understood the home was partially destroyed; nobody was injured.

In a statement at the time, DWFRS said: “We currently have multiple fire crews in attendance at The Butts, Westbury for a domestic property fire.

“The incident is currently at 8 pumps, with the addition of an aerial ladder platform, and a command support appliance and command support pump.”
