Detectives probing sexual assault in Swindon want two key witnesses to come forward

Detectives are trying to trace a potential witness to an alleged sexual assault in Swindon.

Officers are carrying out enquiries relating to the incident in High Street, Old Town, at around 7.15am on 2 October.

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with this offence.

However, the police investigation is ongoing and officers would like to speak to the male cyclist pictured in the CCTV image — they believe he may be a key witness.

Officers also believe the suspect in this case may have approached a woman standing by a bus stop in Newport Street at around 7.30am on the same day. She is pictured in the following CCTV image.

“We would urge either of the people pictured to call Swindon CID on 101, quoting crime reference 54210096067,” a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.

Adding: “Also, if you were in that area of Swindon on that morning and believe you may have witnessed something suspicious, then please call us.

“Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
