Detectives launch investigation after serious assault in Chippenham flat

Detectives are investigating a serious assault at an address in Chippenham.

Police were initially called to a report of a disorder at a flat in Rudman Park, off Goldney Avenue, at around 12.30pm today.

Six police vehicles and an ambulance were reportedly attending the incident.

A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and taken to Melksham Police Station. He remains in custody this evening.

Later in the day, detectives visited the scene alongside forensic investigators.

A police officer was seen to be guarding the front door of the property where the assault took place.

Wiltshire Police has not released any information regarding the victim, however, the offence of GBH relates to a serious injury assault.
