Detectives probe hammer attack in Melksham as man, 30s, arrested

Detectives are investigating a hammer attack in Melksham this morning (Sunday).

Emergency services were called to the serious assault in Foundry Close shortly after 7am.

The victim, a man aged in his 20s, sustained injuries that required hospital treatment.

Wiltshire Police have confirmed his wounds aren’t thought to be life-changing or life-threatening.

A man, aged in his 30s, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He is currently in custody for questioning.

Forensic investigation work is ongoing at the scene – which appears to be within an upstairs flat.
