Debris removed from Swindon railway line after males jump fence

Debris has been removed from a railways line in Swindon after males jumped the fence.

Wiltshire Police responded to reports of two or three suspects entering climbing onto the tracks on Saturday night (23 December).

The British Transport Police were also sent to the scene to provide assistance – with metal debris later located on the line and removed.

It’s understood that the main line was blocked for an hour whilst officers dealt with the incident.

PC Taylor said that she “would like to remind everyone that it is NOT safe to trespass on the railway.”

Adding: “It is illegal and dangerous. You could be taken to court and face a fine of £1000.

“This is because if someone trespasses, all trains have to be stopped in the vicinity to remove the trespassers, check for damage and clear blockages.”
