Cyclist found seriously injured in road near Malmesbury as police launch probe

Police are trying to establish how a cyclist sustained serious injuries near Malmesbury.

Emergency services were called to the scene outside Garsdon Manor in Garsdon, located between Charlton and Lea, at around 10.20am this morning (Wednesday 21 September).

Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed near the incident to provide critical care alongside South Western Ambulance Service medics.

A male cyclist was found with serious injuries on the unnamed road and was rushed to Great Western Hospital in Swindon by land ambulance, escorted by the air ambulance crew.

Wiltshire Police is now working to establish how the man became injured.

“It is not yet known whether a collision had taken place or if the injuries were a result of a medical episode”, a force spokesperson said.

Adding: “He has been taken to hospital by ambulance and is believed to be in a stable condition.”
