Crime scene lifted after six hours as detectives investigate sexual assault

PCSOs spent more than six hours guarding the 'scene' between Drakes Way and Shrivenham Road

A crime scene in Swindon was lifted after six hours following a reported sexual assault.

Police cordoned off a footpath between Drakes Way and Shrivenham Road shortly before midday yesterday after receiving the allegation of a crime taking place there.

Detectives from Swindon CID attended the area on a number of occasions during the day as police community support officers guarded the scene until around 6pm.

The sexual assault allegedly took place in the early hours of Saturday morning.

“At this stage, we are keeping an open mind as officers continue their enquiries in the area”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police commented.
