Crime scene in place after man, 22, stabbed in Swindon town centre

A POLICE OFFICER GUARDS THE SCENE

UPDATED: Police officers are this morning guarding a crime scene in Swindon town centre after a 22-year-old man was stabbed in the arm during the early hours.

The cordon is in place between John Street Car Park and The Parade on Fleming Way, with a substantial amount of blood on the path.

THE SCENE REMAINS IN PLACE THIS LUNCHTIME

Forensic investigators are understood to be at the scene.

A police spokesperson said: “We received a call from the ambulance service at 5.19am this morning to a report that a man had been assaulted and had sustained a puncture wound to his arm.

“The incident happened in Swindon town centre, on a footpath between Fleming Way and St John’s car park. The walkway is currently cordoned off while enquiries are conducted at the scene.

“The victim, a 22-year-old man has been taken to the Great Western Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police on 101 and quote log number 90 of 24 June.”

A Swindon Borough Council operative has been tasked with cleaning up a large amount blood which is on the pavement outside Debenhams and H&M.
