Crime scene cordon lifted at scene of serious assault on Swindon housing estate

A crime scene put in place around blood on the ground after a woman was seriously injured in a domestic assault at a house in Swindon has been lifted.

Police officers were called to the scene at 6.45pm following calls to the incident by South Western Ambulance Service paramedics who were already at the address in Burbage Road, Penhill.

The woman, in her 40s, is understood to have suffered a ‘deep laceration’ to her back in the attack. She was raced to Great Western Hospital on blue lights.

A police crime scene cordon was established outside the property – around blood in the road – as a detective from Swindon CID investigated the circumstances around the assault, but it was lifted at around 9.30pm. Forensics didn’t attend the scene as expected.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “The woman, who is in her 40s, has been taken to Great Western Hospital for treatment for an injury to her back.

“Her injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

“The investigation is in the early stages and officers are currently at the scene.”

No arrests in connection with the incident have been made.
