Wiltshire Council says it has collected nine ‘abandoned’ dogs this week.

Dog wardens have picked up the animals across the county, but as yet, nobody has claimed ownership.

The dogs are either not microchipped or have outdated information contained on them.

They will be housed in council kennels for seven days before they are put up for rehoming.

“Sadly, none of the dogs have been claimed or match any of our records, so it’s likely these dogs have been abandoned”, a spokesperson said.

Adding: “All stray dogs will be held for 7 days before being assessed ready for rehoming.

“Please ensure your dog is microchipped and that the contact details are correct on the microchip register.
